It's fascinating to me that lots of people have responded to these posts with something along the lines of "wow, this has really affirmed my decision about whether or not to have a baby" - some of them who have decided really no, and some who have decided really yes. Having done the pregnancy and childbirth bit at least, I definitely definitely think that this is something you should only do if you really really want to, because it's bloody hard and your body changes permanently - and caring for a newborn is hard enough being totally committed to the process, I can imagine it feeling pretty impossible for someone who had doubts or uncertainties. It's enough of a struggle for two able-bodied parents to manage, I can't imagine how much harder it must be for people with disabilities.
