Thank you for the offer! The mechanic came today and decreed it was New Washing Machine Time, and is allegedly going to make that happen tomorrow. If this comes to pass we'll be fine, but if there's a hiccup we might take you up on it. We've also had the same offer from our lovely neighbour across the street, so feel very well supported :)
